  1. When partner opens with a 3 bid, the hand should be capable
  2. of taking 5 or 6 tricks.

  4. If a major suit was bid:
  5. 4Bid: (1) A hand that will take 4 or 5 tricks (QT plus
  6.        ruffing tricks).
  7.       (2) A hand with 4 trumps, and HCPC 6-9.  This
  8.        is a sacrifice to prevent the enemy from
  9.        finding their suit.
  10. If a minor suit was bid:
  11. 5Bid:  (1) A hand that will take  5 or 6 tricks (QT plus
  12.        ruffing tricks).
  13.        (2) A hand with 4 trumps, and HCPC 8-11.  This
  14.        is a scrifice to impede the enemy.
