- When partner opens with a 3 bid, the hand should be capable
- of taking 5 or 6 tricks.

- If a major suit was bid:
- 4Bid: (1) A hand that will take 4 or 5 tricks (QT plus
- ruffing tricks).
- (2) A hand with 4 trumps, and HCPC 6-9. This
- is a sacrifice to prevent the enemy from
- finding their suit.
- If a minor suit was bid:
- 5Bid: (1) A hand that will take 5 or 6 tricks (QT plus
- ruffing tricks).
- (2) A hand with 4 trumps, and HCPC 8-11. This
- is a scrifice to impede the enemy.
